Department for Transport

Department of Energy and Climate Change

The UK DECC was created in October 2008 to bring together energy policy (previously with BERR, which is now BIS - the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills) and climate change mitigation policy (previously with Defra). DECC exists to take the lead in tackling climate change and securing clean, safe, affordable energy to heat and power our homes and businesses.

Facilitates the introduction of new techniques and equipment to increase the efficiency and quality of the food manufacturing industry in the UK.

Food Standards Agency

The FSA is an independent Government department set up by an Act of Parliament in 2000 to protect the public's health and consumer interests in relation to food. The Agency is entitled to make public the advice that it gives to Government ministers.

Freight Best Practice

This is the new name for the Transport Energy Best Practice Programme. Freight Best Practice offers free information for the freight industry including: saving fuel, developing skills, equipment and systems, operational efficiency and performance management. 

Market Transformation Programme

The MTP supports the development and implementation of UK Government policy on sustainable products.

Run by the Environment Agency. It provides information on regulations affecting industry sectors, including agriculture and food.

PIRSA: Department of Primary Industries and Resources SA

PIRSA is a dynamic Government of South Australia agency committed to the economic development of the State and the sustainable use of the State’s food, fibre and minerals industries.

Resource Efficiency Website

This was set up to help UK companies make better use of materials and energy; use industrial wastes as a source of valuable materials and to recover and process wastes for further use.

Sustainable Development Commission

The UK Government's independent advisory body on sustainable development. Its role is fourfold (advisory, capacity-building, advocacy, watchdog).

The Fisheries Secretariat

FISH is a non-profit organisation working towards sustainable fisheries in Europe and worldwide. Its long-term goal is healthy seas with thriving fish stocks and great diversity. The Secretariat works through information, international co-operation, capacity building and lobbying at an international level, but with a focus on the European Union.
