The Natural Resources Institute (NRI) ( is a multi-disciplinary centre of the University of Greenwich that undertakes research, consultancy and training to support global food security, sustainable development and poverty reduction in developing countries.

The position involves working to:

  • Develop research related to the ecological processes that affect the sustainability of agricultural production and the trade-offs between productivity and ecosystem services either in the UK or developing countries.
  • Identify and pursue research and/or enterprise funding from outside bodies, including Research Councils, development agencies, private sector and foundations within and outside the UK
  • Develop and contribute to teaching classes and field-based courses on plant ecology and other agricultural or ecological topics at postgraduate and undergraduate levels
  • Contribute to NRI’s strategic plan by publishing high-impact research, and contributing research informed quality teaching.
