The Chief Medical Officer, Liam Donaldson, has published his annual report 2009. The report draws attention to major health challenges requiring immediate action and details progress made in key areas identified in previous annual reports. Among other things it addresses the link between climate change and health, particularly with respect to diet and transport, the moral responsibility of the UK to take a leading in addressing climate change, and the need for the NHS to reduce its own carbon footprint.
