Report: Carbon Disclosure Project – “The Future of Reporting”
The Carbon Disclosure Project released its FTSE 350 Climate Change Report 2012, entitled The Future of Reporting, which provides an annual update on greenhouse gas emissions data and climate change strategies at the UK’s largest public corporations.
This year, 69% (240) of the FTSE 350 (including 96% of the FTSE 100) responded to CDP’s request asking them to measure and disclose what climate change means for their business. The analysis in this report is based on 238 responses and rates them according to their climate change transparency with the best disclosers entering CDP’s Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI).
Unilever, Diageo, and Reckitt Benckiser, all consumer staples companies, were 3 of 7 companies who obtained the status of Carbon Performance Leadership Index (CPLI) and CDLI. These companies obtained a performance score above 85, achieved at least a 3% reduction in carbon emissions as a result of emissions reduction activities over the last year, and disclosed and verified Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions.
